Frequently asked questions:
Hopefully the information below is comprehensive, if there is anything else just ask.
The Nurse's Cottage is let on a self-catering basis only.  If you are new to self-catering, some pointers - It is not a hotel, there is no daily maid service, reception, staff onsite etc. We provide a welcome pack and basic supplies, but you will need to buy more during your stay.  There are local shops within easy walking distance that can supply everything you need.

We provide a welcome pack with things like milk, bread, coffee, tea etc. to get you started.

All bedding and towels are provided. There are soap dispensers in the bathrooms and kitchen.

Electricity / gas, WiFi / Broadband with unlimited data usage, TV license etc. is included in the rental cost of the property. WiFi is available throughout the property.

Kitchen - the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you should need.  Appliance wise there is an electric double oven, gas hob, full size dishwasher, large fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, scales, smoothie maker etc.  There are dishes / plates / glasses / cutlery for 8 place settings.  The washing machine is in the garage.  We do provide a starter pack of dishwasher and washing machine tablets, more can be purchased from the local shops.

There are two large TVs, one in the sitting room and one in the downstairs snug.  Both have Blu-ray players and full Netflix access.  The one in the snug also has a PS4.

There are SONOS music players in the downstairs sitting room and upstairs den.  The controller is in the sitting room behind the player on the shelf.

There is a selection of board games, fiction books and books on the local area for you to use while at the Nurse's Cottage.  Please leave them as you find them.

All the bedrooms have hair dryers (with mirrors and power outlets so you can see what you are doing!)
All the bedrooms have power sockets with built in USB chargers, just remember your USB cables (kitchen as well has a USB power socket).

The cottage has full gas central heating.  This is set on a timed programme and can be boosted as needed.  This operates independently of the log burner and pellet burner.  Hot water is heated on demand by the gas boiler so you should never run out of hot water.

Wood Burning Stove in sitting room - logs and kindling can be purchased at the general stores in the village.  Only wood logs can be used with the stove, don't burn coal or peat please.

Pellet Burner - pellets are provided for free and are stored in the garage.

There is a large, secure garage that you can use to store outdoor equipment as needed.  It has power and light (as well as the washing machine).  There are outside security lights on the cottage and garage as well.

Deposits – we do ask for a deposit of 30% to confirm the booking.  If you are booking close to the date you want to rent the property, then you will need to pay the full amount.  We then ask for the balance of the rental amount eight weeks before the start of your booking.

What if I need to Cancel? Once you have made a booking, we have accepted it and either your deposit (or the full amount) has been paid, a legally binding contract exists between us. If you must cancel your booking, for any reason, you are liable for the full amount of rent. If, however, we can re-let the cottage, we will credit any payments made against a future booking for you, less any additional costs we have incurred.

We strongly recommend that you protect yourself against unforeseen events by taking out cancellation insurance.

Check in time is 4.00pm onwards or earlier by prior arrangement. We ask you to vacate your cottage by 10.00 am on your day of departure.

If you require the bedding and towels to be changed during your stay we can arrange this for a small additional charge.  This needs to be requested in advance of your stay.

Do you accommodate families? Yes, this is very much a family cottage. We are also able to provide a travel cot & high chair to save you bringing your own, if you need this please advise us in advance as it is stored out of the way normally. We do not supply stair gates or plug covers, you must bring your own, sorry.

What about Dogs? Dogs are very welcome, but there are some house rules. They must be fully house trained (no puppies, sorry).  They are not allowed on any furniture or beds - no exceptions. Please never leave them in the cottage on their own.  Also, we would prefer if the dogs were kept downstairs to protect the wooden staircase from scratches.  Please ensure you tidy up after your dogs, there are poo bags under the kitchen sink.  There are spare dog bowls in the garage in case you forget your own.

There is a pet charge of £25.00 per dog, this is to cover extra cleaning costs. Please let us know when booking that you'll be bringing a dog with you.

What is your Policy on Smoking? No smoking of cigarettes, cigars or pipes is allowed anywhere in the property. We reserve the right to cancel your holiday and evict you from the property if these conditions are not observed.
